Three steps, done at your own pace. Here's what happens at each one and what you'll need.
Before you start
Have these handy. Only the basic info is required.
Your basic info
Position, class year, height and current school or team.
Your grades
GPA and any test scores. Rough numbers are fine to start.
Your film
A link to your highlights on YouTube or similar, if you have one.
An email account
A Gmail account if you want to send emails to coaches from HoopReach.

Build your profile
Your profile is the base for everything else. It's what coaches see when you share your link, and it's what your fit scores are built on.
What you do
- 1Start with the basics: position, class year, height and school.
- 2Add academics like GPA and test scores if you have them.
- 3Add stats, measurements and links to your highlight film.
- 4Say what matters to you in a school — size, distance, playing time, academics.
- 5Add a photo and turn on your public profile page so coaches can see it by link.
Good to know: Only the basics are required to begin. You can skip the rest and come back any time — your progress is saved at every step.

Find programs that fit
Search college basketball programs across NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO, and see an estimated fit score for each one.
What you do
- 1Filter by division, conference, state and region.
- 2Open a school to see its key facts, official links and coaching staff.
- 3Check the fit breakdown to see how basketball, academics and opportunity add up.
- 4Save the programs worth pursuing — they go straight into your pipeline.
- 5Use Compare to put your top schools side by side before you decide who to write to.
Good to know: The fit score is an estimate to help you focus, not a promise of interest. A more complete profile gives more accurate scores.

Reach coaches and follow up
When you're ready, write to the coach. HoopReach helps with the first draft and keeps track of everything that happens after.
What you do
- 1Pick the coach from the contacts we have on file, each shown with its source.
- 2Generate a first email for that program and edit it in your own words.
- 3Connect your Gmail and send it yourself — nothing goes out until you press send.
- 4Set follow-up dates and move each school through your pipeline as things progress.
- 5When a coach replies, it shows up in that school's conversation so you can answer from the same place.
Good to know: A message only shows as Sent once Gmail confirms it went out. Drafts stay drafts, and failed sends are clearly marked.

Recruiting takes time. Here's how to keep it moving.
Keep your profile fresh
Update stats, film and grades after each season so coaches always see your latest.
Follow up without being pushy
If a coach hasn't answered, a short, polite follow-up after a week or two is normal. Set the date and HoopReach reminds you.
Add new schools as you learn
Camps, visits and conversations will change your list. Keep saving and comparing as you go.
Track every step
Move schools from Researching to Contacted to Replied, and keep visits and camps on your calendar.

- How long does setup take?
- The basics take a few minutes. You can add the rest later — your progress is saved at every step.
- Do I need to connect Gmail?
- No. You can build your profile, find programs and write drafts without it. You only need Gmail to send emails from HoopReach.
- Can my parent or coach help?
- Yes. Many players set things up together with a parent or trainer. Every message still goes from the player's own account.
- Is it free?
- You can start free today. Pro is coming later and can't be bought yet.
